What is the Difference Between Pressure Washing & Soft Washing?
The main difference between pressure washer and gentle cycle is the pressure used. High pressure cleaning uses a high pressure water jet to blow off dirt and dirt. The gentle cleaning system cleans the surface using a low pressure washer and a cleaning solution.
Let’s know the Basics
Both gentle and high pressure cleaning are ways to clean the surface of your property. Both gentle and high pressure washers are considered types of power washes. Pressure washer has a harder surface than gentle washer. A pressure washer is ideal for hard, porous surfaces such as concrete, as it can remove contaminants on the surface. Gentle cleaning may reduce the cleaning effect due to the low pressure, but the softer the surface, the easier it is to handle. Fortunately, most pressure washers have adjustable pressure levels. You can choose high pressure or low pressure cleaning for each machine. Similarly, all pressure washers companies have adjustable pressure washers that allow you to choose the right type of pressure based on your own surface. Both pressure and gentle cleaning have advantages and disadvantages.
Difference Between Pressure Washing & Soft Washing?
What is Pressure Washing? How it Works?
Pressure washing is the use of high-pressure water spray to remove loose paint, mold, grime, dust, mud, and dirt from surfaces and objects such as buildings, vehicles and concrete surfaces.
With pressure washing, you direct highly-compressed water on a surface to blast away contaminants. Pressure washers have different strength ratings given in pounds per square inch (PSI).
Generally, pressure washing is considered the best method for removing loose paint or stains from surfaces – say, if you’re removing paint or stains to prepare for another layer.
The big drawback of pressure washing is that it can damage surfaces when used incorrectly. Applying high-powered pressure to a deck, for example, can cause severe damage to the surface. Wood is softer than concrete, so you need to use a different PSI.
Use pressure washing:
- To remove loose paint or stain from wood or aluminum siding
- To prepare a deck for staining (say, when removing old wood fibers and loose paint from the deck)
- To wash concrete, pavement, and similar hard surfaces that are more than 3 years old
What is soft Washing? How it Works?
Soft washing is a cleaning method, using low pressure and specialized solutions to safely remove mildew, bacteria, algae and other organic stains from roofs and other building exteriors. It is so named to differentiate the method from power washing.
Soft washing is a lower pressure wash. You still use higher pressure than you would with something like a hose, but soft washing allows you to dislodge contaminants without harming the surface.
Soft washing lets you remove mold, algae, mildew, dirt, and other contaminants from a surface. You might use soft washing on softer wood, for example, or to avoid impacting the structural integrity of concrete that’s newer than 3 years.
Difference Between Pressure Washing & Soft Washing?
Use soft washing:
(1) For cedar shake siding, wood panel siding, and similar soft siding materials
(2) To wash concrete that’s newer than 3 years old
(3) To clean mold, algae, mildew, dirt, and other surface contaminants without harming the surface below
(4) To clean stucco, Coquina, or vinyl siding
(5) To clean outdoor wood furniture, rooted plants, screens, and enclosures
(6) To clean any standard surface, like a roof or a deck, where you don’t want to impact the structural integrity of that surface
Generally, for any standard cleaning of your house, deck, or property, soft washing is the right choice. If soft washing isn’t dislodging a certain trouble spot, then you could switch to pressure washing.
